Network Rail urged to extend parking space at Montrose Railway Station

product-autobarriers Network Rail urged to extend parking space at Montrose Railway StationNetwork Rail has been urged by local authorities to add extra parking space around the Montrose Railway Station after the number of passengers has increased significantly, a news report in the local media has revealed.

Figures obtained from the Office of Rail Regulation suggest that in excess of 385,000 passengers travelled to and from Montrose last year, which represents the highest number in more than a decade.

Councillor David May argued that residents struggle to park their vehicles after 7.30am, also raising concerns over the availability of spaces in the town centre because they are taken up by rail passengers.

He urged Network Rail to extend the existing car park by using a disused yard adjacent to the town’s station but a Network Rail spokesman said there was no chance the site could be used as parking.
