New static bollards have been installed outside a local retail shop in Chell to prevent the ever growing phenomenon of illegal parking, a recent news report in the local media has been able to suggest.
The Stoke-on-Trent City Council have placed the static bollards outside of Tesco Express and Wrights on Biddulph Road, Chell, to stop ‘lazy’ drivers parking on double-yellow lines outside the shop.
It means drivers now have to park on the Tesco car park at the side of the store.
The bollards have been welcomed by customers – but they are also calling for the car park’s entrance to be widened.
Lyn Jones, aged 62, from Chell, said: “This is a brilliant idea because people shouldn’t be parking there. People just park on the double-yellow lines and zig-zags and think the rules don’t apply to them.
“When people park there it delays the traffic because cars can’t get past. They should widen the car park entrance as well because it can be a struggle to get in.
“It’s a very busy store, there’s always somebody in there and it would make traffic flow even easier.”
