New traffic restriction solutions, including rising bollards, will be among the numerous new changes that are set to transform Chelmsford High Street, according to a recent news report in the local media.
Chelmsford City Council and Essex County Council have combined to come up with a series of ideas for Tindal Square and the High Street including paving over the road outside Shire Hall and making it fully pedestrianised.
This would see a brand new public space created outside Shire Hall with paving, public seating, planting and a two-way cycle route.
A two-way cycle lane will also be implemented, and surrounding traffic will be re-routed. Tindal Street will also be made one-way southbound between Market Road and Bellmead for buses and deliveries.
There will also be rising bollards to grant access to deliveries for businesses between 6pm and 9am every day.
