The Waterfront car park boasts more than 1,000 spaces over seven floors and will be open seven days a week. It is barrier controlled with drivers picking up a token as they enter and paying on exit.

Permits will cost more than at other long-stay car parks in the borough, with an annual permit set to be £480, but spaces will be set aside for permit-holders and automatic number plate recognition will be used.

Chris Lewis, chairman of the Stafford Town Centre Partnership, added: “It is great news to see the car park opened as I know this will be welcomed by shoppers and visitors to Stafford, It has also whetted the appetite for the arrival of the executing new shops and restaurants that will soon follow.”
