Plans approved for new pay-on-exit barrier at Saunton Sands car park

product-autobarriers Plans approved for new pay-on-exit barrier at Saunton Sands car parkNorth Devon Council’s planning committee has unanimously approved plans for installing a new pay-on-exit automatic barrier at the Saunton Sands car park despite serious opposition from concerned local residents.

As a result, a new Automatic Number Plate Recognition System and equipment including barriers, cameras and pay-stations are set to be installed on the premises.

The decision was made in spite of fierce opposition from campaigners who had protested against the initial proposed charges of £2 for the first hour and £1.50 per hour thereafter, with a locals’ discount of half price for an initial £50 season ticket. Thousands have signed a petition opposing the plans and the council has received 473 letters of objection.
