Damaged railings by Grantham roundabout to be replaced with cast-iron bollards

product-bollardposts Damaged railings by Grantham roundabout to be replaced with cast-iron bollardsMetal railings along a roundabout in Grantham, Lincolnshire, are set to be replaced by cast-iron bollards after being damaged by an out-of-control truck, a recent news report on the matter was able to reveal.

The metal barriers on the junction of Sankt Augustin Way and Barrowby Road were crumpled by the lorry late one evening in July.

However, four months after they were destroyed, the railings are yet to be replaced. Lincolnshire County Council’s area highways manager Mark Heaton has explained the reason for the delay in repairs. He said: “The guide rails helped guide pedestrians to an appropriate crossing point but their structure didn’t offer any protection from the road.

“We are planning to replace them with cast-iron bollards which will be more aesthetically-pleasing as well as easier and less expensive to maintain.

“These bollards are currently being made and we will schedule the repairs as soon as possible.”

The Static Bollards supplied by Carpark Barriers Gates & Turnstiles are equally suitable for both ground or surface mount, are highly flexible in most situations and are available in both cast iron and wood versions, which means that customer will be able to choose either strength or cosmetic appearance, depending on the specific circumstances within which the bollard is set to be mounted.

From simple light weight timber bollards for demarcation purposes, separating pedestrians from traffic or for protecting vulnerable points like corners of buildings that could be accidentally hit by vehicles, static bollards are highly versatile and provide a genuine deterrent.

The reliable and affordable Static Bollards from Carpark Barriers Gates & Turnstiles are available in any RAL colour as a special order at low prices, and if you’d like to find out more about them (or have any other query on this topic), then our dedicated product team can answer any question you might have.
