Harborough railway station to undergo £100,000 revamp

product-glass-turn Harborough railway station to undergo £100,000 revampHarborough train station is set to undergo a major refurbishment process worth an estimated £100,000, a news report in the local media has recently revealed.

The upgrade process will start with the ticket office and will take two months to complete. A series of additional improvements will be carried out under this scheme, such as new windows, contactless payment technology, free WiFi and new passenger information screens.

During the refurbishment alternative ticketing arrangements will be in place, with passengers needing to buy their fares from station staff or vending machines rather than from the office.

East Midlands Trains commercial director Neil Micklethwaite said: “The upgrade of facilities will make a big difference to the travelling experience for passengers who use it for over 1.4 million journeys every year.

“The improvement work will be carried out with minimal disruption and extra steps will be taken to keep the station open at all times and train services will not be affected during the works.”

As expected, such a large-scale redevelopment would also require a serious upgrade in terms of access control and ticketing solutions, and this is specifically where Car Park Barriers & Turnstiles could put its extensive experience in this field to very good use.

Car Park Barriers & Turnstiles supplies a variety of access restriction and control solutions, all of which have been specifically designed to work either as stand-alone units or as part of an integrated system. All of these could come particularly in handy for securing the various access routes into the station.
