The city council’s planning committee approved plans for extending the station as well as redeveloping the area around it in order to enable easier access to the premises.

The transformed station building will boast a ticket hall double the size of the existing one, with additional entrance doors. Improvements will also include additional ticket machines, relocated to avoid conflict with passengers entering and leaving the station, new toilets, and improved information screens.

This revamp will cost £4.2 million,and the main works should take place this summer.
