A council-run survey found 83 per cent of residents in Whiteley, Fareham, Hampshire want to have the bollards lowered in a popular drive for a three-month trial period, a news report reveals.
The automatic bollards have been the centre of controversy as some claimed that lowering them would encourage rat-running, while others organised petitions to have them dropped to ease congestion out of Whiteley.
Council members revealed that cameras have been put up to monitor the speed and size of vehicles using the road, and that the council will consider introducing a 20mph speed limit along the road as it passes by a school. They would also like to prevent HGVs using it.
In spite of the residents’ reaction to automatic bollards, the truth of the matter is that these access restriction devices can prove to be extremely useful in specific situations. This is exactly the reason why Car Park Barriers & Turnstiles offers a high-end, reliable, yet quite affordable solution of this type.
The Automatic Bollards developed by Car Park Barriers & Turnstiles limit vehicle access to a specific location, and can easily be lowered when passage is authorised, typically within 2-3 seconds.
Our bollards are constructed out of concrete, stainless steel, aluminium or cast iron and are sturdy enough to be able to completely stop the majority of vehicles. Furthermore, they’re also quite resilient to atmospheric elements, and are housed inside compartments set into the road surface.
Additionally, an access control device, such as a smart card, can be combined with the automatic bollards, enabling quick and easy raising and lowering of the post. The Car Park Barriers & Turnstiles automatic bollards also sport an anti-intrusion locking system, as well as a failsafe in both retracted and extended position.
